Tour Start – 11:00 a.m.

The experience begins with hotel pickup from the districts of Miraflores, Barranco, or San Isidro (other districts available at an additional cost). Get ready to immerse yourself in a day full of flavor and tradition.

Visit to the Local Market

Accompanied by a local expert, we will explore one of Lima’s most traditional markets. We’ll walk through its colorful stalls in a true sensory immersion, where aromas, colors, and textures will connect you with the essence of Peruvian cuisine.

We’ll learn about the diversity of fresh ingredients and discover why the richness of Peruvian gastronomy begins in its markets. During the visit, we’ll have a brief tasting of seasonal local fruits such as prickly pear (tuna), lucuma, pacay, or goldenberry (aguaymanto), depending on the time of year. From Andean tubers to native chili peppers and aromatic herbs, every product reveals Peru’s biodiversity and its key role in the country’s culinary identity.

On the way to the culinary experience: Walking tour through Lima’s Historic Center

After visiting the market, we will walk to the location where the cooking class will take place. This stroll will allow you to appreciate the vibrant atmosphere and cultural richness of Lima’s Historic Center, including its famous Chinatown, adding a unique and colorful touch to the experience.

Peruvian Cooking Class

Guided by a local chef, you will learn step by step how to prepare two Peruvian classics:

• The fresh and emblematic Ceviche
• The traditional Pisco Sour

Vegan or vegetarian options are available upon request.

Lunch and closing

Once the preparation is complete, comes the best part: tasting your own creation! Enjoy a dish made with your own hands and the finest ingredients from Peru.

2:00 p.m. – Return to the hotel

At the end of the experience, we will take you back to your hotel in Miraflores, Barranco, or San Isidro** (other districts available at an additional cost). The estimated arrival time is 2:00 p.m., depending on traffic conditions.

• Remember that, since these are outdoor activities, the natural features of the landscape may vary depending on weather conditions and the natural daylight. Each visit is an authentic experience, where nature reveals itself in unique and unrepeatable ways.

According to Peruvian regulations, foreign tourists may be exempt from the local tax IGV (VAT). As a formal and registered travel agency, we are required to submit to the local authorities a copy of the document you used to enter the country, as well as your date of entry. For this reason, a few days before your arrival, we will contact you to request a photo of that document and ask you to let us know the date you entered Peru. If we do not receive this information, we will be required to add the 18% corresponding to the IGV tax.

• There will be no refunds in case of delayed flights, train delays, bad weather, or other external factors

Force Majeure Policy

• Guru Explorers values your time and makes every effort to follow the itinerary. However, it may be affected by force majeure events such as weather conditions, rain, natural disasters, protests, roadblocks, or other circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, no refunds or compensation will be provided, as these are unforeseeable and unavoidable situations. Nonetheless, we will do everything possible to offer efficient alternatives and solutions for your enjoyment. Any additional costs resulting from changes or alternative activities will be the responsibility of the client and not Guru Explorers.
