Itinerary of the Tambopata Tour

DAY 1 : Puerto Maldonado - Lodge - Initial Exploration

Your journey will begin with your arrival in Puerto Maldonado, known as the Capital of Biodiversity. From here, you will board a boat that will take you along the Madre de Dios River on a 25-minute ride to the lodge.

Once you settle into your comfortable cabin or room, you will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at the Casa Grande dining room, a restaurant with a palm-thatched roof and panoramic views of the surrounding rainforest.

In the afternoon, you will embark on a walk along the Concepción Trails, a series of paths that wind through the jungle, offering a unique introduction to the ecosystems of the Amazon. This property is part of the Tambopata National Reserve and is home to both primary and secondary rainforest, with a rich variety of tropical flora and fauna.

At sunset, you will board a guided boat ride along the river and witness how the rainforest shifts from a daytime environment to a nocturnal one, with new species adapted to the darkness. Don’t forget to look for caimans along the riverbanks and marvel at the stars of the southern hemisphere!

Later, you will enjoy an à la carte dinner, inspired by local Amazon ingredients.

DAY 2 : Amazon Adventure: Lake Sandoval, Canopy Walkway, and Hidden Forest

The day will begin early with a delicious buffet breakfast starting at 05:30. After a walk along a jungle trail, you will reach a stream where you will board a wooden boat to navigate toward Lake Sandoval, a serene horseshoe-shaped lake located within the Tambopata National Reserve. This lake is home to iconic species such as the endangered giant river otter, red howler monkeys, red-bellied macaws, anacondas, black caimans, and many other fascinating creatures.

Following this adventure, you will return to the lodge for a delicious lunch.

In the afternoon, get ready for a unique experience at the Canopy Walkway – a network of ecological suspension bridges stretching between treetop observation platforms, over 30 meters above the forest floor. This is your opportunity to view the rainforest from an elevated perspective and observe local wildlife such as toucans, woodpeckers, monkeys, and three-toed sloths. For a more exclusive experience, you can opt for a sunset drink from the top of a tower, or even spend the night in a treehouse cabin equipped with modern comforts (additional costs apply).

As night falls, you will embark on the "Hidden Forest" excursion. Armed with flashlights, you will explore the jungle at night and witness species that only emerge in the darkness. For those preferring to relax, the Nua Spa offers exclusive wellness treatments. Be sure to consult with our advisors to discover the various options available.

To conclude the day, a delectable à la carte dinner will be served from 19:00.

DAY 3: Lodge - Puerto Maldonado

On your final morning in the Amazon, you’ll awaken to the sounds of the jungle, as parakeets and monkeys bring the environment to life.

Breakfast will be served at Casa Grande, and check-out will be at 10:00. If your departure flight is later, you may opt for an additional lunch (additional charges apply).

At the end of the day, you will board a motorized boat for a 25-minute journey along the Madre de Dios River, followed by a transfer to the airport.

The design combines the classic structure of an Amazonian hacienda with contemporary furniture, creating fresh and comfortable environments. The Casa Grande has high palm-thatched roofs and a large dining area with recycled wooden furniture crafted by local artisans.
  • The US Travel Advisory for Peru usually recommends yellow fever vaccinations and malaria prevention medication for tourists traveling to the jungle region.
