Amazing Amazon Tour Itinerary:
DAY 1 :
10:00 Iquitos – Monkey Island – Lodge
The three days of adventure starts when our guide picks you up at the International Airport or the city of Iquitos, for the transfer to the Port of Bellavista and boarding a fast boat where you travel the Amazon River; and at one point you appreciate its union with the Nanay River, whose waters make a contrast of light and dark brown; among the green wetlands.
The first stop will be a refuge and animal protection area, the Island of the Monkeys, which allows you to know the process of reintegration of primates to their natural habitat, as well as get in contact with some such as the Peresso, Pichico, the Howler monkey, the Spider, Stump, among others.
You return to the boat to arrive at Heliconia Amazon River Lodge, where you will be greeted with a drink and a subsequent buffet lunch. After resting, the first excursion takes you to the Yamono Reserve, where you identify a diversity of animal species, flora and giant trees, typical of the Amazon rainforest.
On the way back, you will be able to see the incomparable sunset of the jungle and at night, the long-awaited open boat tour of one of the tributaries of the Amazon River. Taking advantage of the low lighting and the inhospitable environment, you see a wonderful sky full of stars; and if time permits, you will be able to detail the constellations and shooting stars.
When you arrive at the Lodge you can rest in its pools, hammocks or open areas, to later have dinner and rest.
DAY 2 :
Lodge – Amazon community – Lodge
We always recommend waking up very early and watching the Amazon sunrise. We invite you to the observation tour of the diversity of tropical birds near the camp, to continue the day with breakfast and then a visit to Los Yaguas, an indigenous community recognized for its ability as hunters, where you will learn one of the techniques they use to to fish; what later you can do in one of the tributaries of the Amazon River with piranha fishing.
On the way you could spot some pink dolphins from the Amazon River and when you arrive at the Lodge, to taste a diverse buffet lunch.
After sunset, you take a walk around the lodge; appreciating the night and the change of the environment in the jungle, being able to see nocturnal animals, the magical sounds and the charm of the place.
You return to the accommodation for dinner and a pleasant rest.
DAY 3 :
Lodge – Iquitos
After breakfast, you enjoy a wonderful observation tour of the queen of the water lilies, Victoria Amazónicas, Victoria Regia or Nenúfar, which adorn the shallow waters of the Amazon River, whose flower measures up to 40 cm. This plant has many details that you will want to know.
Return to the Lodge for buffet lunch and transfer to Iquitos International Airport.
