Palccoyo’s climate is generally cold, as it is located in the high Andes, reaching 5,000 masl (17,000 feet). However; it can also be changeable depending on the season of the year when you visit this tourist attraction.

Palccoyo is located south of the traditional rainbow mountain in Vinicunca. To reach this destination, you have to go from Cusco to the district of Combapata for about 2 hours 45 minutes. Then you take a detour that leads to the tourist attraction.

On the way you can appreciate the picturesque town of Checacupe, where you can find its famous bridges.

The weather in the mountains is unpredictable; however, the weather between April and October is friendlier to visit the rainbow mountains of Palccoyo, as there is less chance of rain.

On the other hand, in the rainy season, you will see more shades of green in the landscapes on the way to this attraction, which makes it more picturesque…

Located at 5,000 meters above sea level, the colors of the rainbow mountains of Palccoyo are caused by minerals that show shades of pink, red, purple, lavender, fuchsia, orange and gold!
