Itinerary of the Tour to Uros Island + Taquile + Amantani 2D/1N:

DAY 1 

Departure from Puno Port (08:00 AM)

The tour begins with the transfer from your hotel to Puno Port, where you will board a motorboat.

Floating Islands of the Uros

You will visit two floating islands of the Uros, a community that lives on artificial islands made of totora reeds. The guide will explain the way of life of the inhabitants, and you will have free time to explore and take photos.

Amantani Island

The day continues with a boat trip of approximately 2 hours to Amantani Island, where you will spend the night in a local family's home (experiential tourism). Upon arrival, you will meet the local families, who will take you to their homes to settle in and have lunch. In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore the island, which you can use to take a walk to the Pachatata Temple on your own, located at 4,150 meters above sea level, to enjoy panoramic views of the island. Occasionally, some locals may offer a motorcycle transportation service around the island. This activity is not the responsibility of Guru Explorers. If you decide to hire this service, we strongly recommend always requesting a safety helmet.

Dinner in Amantani

In the evening, you will have dinner at the family’s home, where they will organize a traditional celebration for the visitors. Those who wish can participate in this optional activity, wearing the traditional attire provided by the community.

DAY 2

Breakfast and trip to Taquile

The next day, after breakfast, you will continue the boat trip to Taquile Island.

Taquile Island - The Best Weavers of Peru

In Taquile, you will take a walk to the main square, located at 3,950 meters above sea level, where you will have free time to explore the artisan shops and learn about the famous textiles of the island. You will also visit a local family to learn more about the culture of the Taquile people, known as the best weavers in Peru.

Return to Puno (approx. 3:30 PM)

Finally, after lunch, you will continue your walk to the second port of Taquile and return by boat to Puno, with the tour ending around 3:30 PM.

Note: Along the route, you will find charming stalls where local families offer unique souvenirs. If you wish to buy a souvenir, consider having some local currency in cash. However, there is no obligation to buy; just enjoy the experience and the beautiful crafts you will find!

• Wi-Fi. Depending on the house where you stay, only some offer internet service. The signal from local operators does not reach the entire island, so it will depend on your operator.

What to bring for the Uros Island Tour + Taquile + Amantani 2D/1N?

• It is recommended to bring: comfortable walking shoes, hat, gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, rain gear (especially from October to March).

• Backpack with essentials for the two days. Please note that you will need to carry the backpack yourself during the walk from the island's port to the house where you will be staying. We recommend leaving excess luggage at your hotel in Puno.

• Passport or ID.

• Travel insurance.

• Cash (local currency). Most families in the area sell handicrafts, and if you wish to buy a souvenir, they only accept cash.

• Light clothing and warm clothing (the temperature changes quickly).

• Flashlight.

• Water bottle (can also be purchased on the islands).

• Wet wipes for personal hygiene.

What does it mean that the tour is shared?

• It means that you can share the tour with a group of tourists of different nationalities and ages, both from Guru Explorers and from different operators. It is an excellent opportunity to connect with travelers from different parts of the world! Remember that this type of tour is operated by Guru Explorers or by our strategic partner who responds to our same standards. If you prefer a tour where you do not share with other people, please ask us for the Private Tour option.
• Seating arrangement on the transport: It is random, based on the order of arrival and pickup.
• Pickup and Schedule: One day before the shared tour, you will be assigned a pickup time range and an approximate return time. It's important to be punctual to avoid delaying others. The duration of the tour may vary depending on the group's pace and traffic, so the return time is only approximate. Please remember that neither traffic nor the pace of tourists is the responsibility of Guru Explorers.

Other considerations

• If you suffer from motion sickness, we recommend consulting with your doctor about the possibility of taking medication for dizziness.
• This tour is considered experiential tourism, and we recommend watching the video to understand the accommodations before booking.
• Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
• Due to environmental, climatic or other factors, beyond our control, the itinerary of the trip may vary. If so, it will be notified promptly.
• Guru Explorers value your time and strive to respect the tour schedule; however, they could vary for reasons beyond our control (weather, natural disasters, field conditions, among other demonstrable reasons). We will do our best to provide efficient options and solutions for your enjoyment.
• Sometimes the islanders can offer you transportation on the island with a motorcycle, please require a safety helmet and consider that traveling by motorcycle without a safety helmet is your responsibility. This activity is not the responsibility of Guru Explorers.

Cancellation Policies for the Taquile and Uros Full Day Tour:

• Within 3 days or less in advance, there will be no refund.
• Between 4 and 7 days of notification, 70% is refunded.
• More than 7 days, 90% is refunded.

Date changes:

• Rates applied for change of date in group tours: 
  • There will be no extra charge if you notify more than 5 days in advance.
  • If notified between 3 and 5 days in advance, an additional charge of 20% will apply.
  • If you notify within 2 days or less in advance, it will not be possible to make the change and it will not be subject to a refund.

• There will be no refund in case of delayed flights, train delays, bad weather or other external factors.
