Itinerary of the Tour to Uros Island + Taquile + Amantani 2D/1N:

DAY 1
Departure from the Port of Puno (08:00 AM)
The tour begins with a transfer from your hotel to the Port of Puno, where you will board a motorboat to start the journey. Before departing, you can enjoy a traditional dance performance at the port, allowing you to learn more about the local culture.
Visit to the Uros Floating Islands – 3,800 m.a.s.l. (30-minute boat ride)
The first stop will be at the Uros Floating Islands, a community that lives on artificial islands built with totora reeds. During the visit, your guide will explain their lifestyle, customs, and traditions. You will also have free time to explore and take photos.
The stay on the islands will last approximately one hour. Local residents offer handicrafts and rides on their traditional totora reed boats. These rides are optional and have an additional cost ranging from 10 to 20 soles per person, depending on the island visited.
Boat trip to Amantaní Island – 3,800 m.a.s.l. (2.5-hour ride)
The journey continues with a boat ride of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to Amantaní Island, where you will experience community-based tourism by staying with a local family.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your hosts, who will take you to their home to settle in and enjoy a traditional lunch. There are no vehicles on the island, so all travel is done on foot.
In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore the island. We suggest taking an optional one-hour hike to the Pachatata Temple, located at 4,150 m.a.s.l., where you can admire breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Titicaca.
Note: On some occasions, islanders may offer a motorcycle transport service. This service is not managed by Guru Explorers. If you choose to use it, we recommend requesting a safety helmet.
Dinner and Cultural Experience in Amantaní
In the evening, you will enjoy dinner at your host family's home. Later, the island’s residents organize a traditional party for visitors, where you will have the option to participate while wearing traditional attire provided by the community.
As part of the cultural homestay experience, you will stay in a room within a local family’s home. The assignment of families is done through a rotation system to ensure that all households benefit from tourism.

DAY 2
Breakfast and trip to Taquile Island (1-hour boat ride)
After breakfast, you will continue the journey by boat to Taquile Island.
Taquile Island – The Best Weavers in Peru
In Taquile, you will take a 1 to 1.5-hour hike to explore the island’s key points. You will visit the main square (3,950 m.a.s.l.), where you can explore artisan stalls and learn about Taquile’s famous weaving tradition, recognized as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity for its quality and complexity.
You will also visit a local family to learn more about the culture of the Taquile people, who are known as the best weavers in Peru.
Lunch on Taquile Island
Enjoy a traditional lunch at a local family’s home, where you will taste typical regional dishes made with fresh, native ingredients.
Return to Puno (2-hour boat ride)
After lunch, you will walk to Taquile’s second port to board the boat back to Puno, concluding the tour around 3:30 PM.
Note: Throughout the tour, you will find charming souvenir stalls where local families offer unique handcrafted items. If you wish to take home a keepsake, consider bringing some cash in local currency. However, there is no obligation to buy;—simply enjoy the experience and admire the beautiful handicrafts!

What to Bring
What to bring for the Uros Island Tour + Taquile + Amantani 2D/1N?
- Comfortable walking shoes

- Rain gear (especially from October to March)
- A backpack with essentials for the two-day trip. Keep in mind that you will have to carry your own backpack during the walk from the island’s port to your host family's home. We recommend leaving excess luggage at your hotel in Puno.

Remember that this type of tour is operated by Guru Explorers or by our strategic partner who responds to our same standards. If you prefer a tour where you do not share with other people, please ask us for the Private Tour option.
- Seating arrangement on the transport: It is random, based on the order of arrival and pickup.
- Pickup and Schedule: One day before the shared tour, you will be assigned a pickup time range and an approximate return time. It's important to be punctual to avoid delaying others. The duration of the tour may vary depending on the group's pace and traffic, so the return time is only approximate. Please remember that neither traffic nor the pace of tourists is the responsibility of Guru Explorers.
Other considerations
- If you suffer from motion sickness, we recommend consulting with your doctor about the possibility of taking medication for dizziness.
- This tour is considered experiential tourism, and we recommend watching the video to understand the accommodations before booking.
- Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

- Sometimes the islanders can offer you transportation on the island with a motorcycle, please require a safety helmet and consider that traveling by motorcycle without a safety helmet is your responsibility. This activity is not the responsibility of Guru Explorers.

- Within 3 days or less in advance, there will be no refund.
- Between 4 and 7 days of notification, 70% is refunded.
- More than 7 days, 90% is refunded.
Date changes:
- Rates applied for change of date in group tours:
- There will be no extra charge if you notify more than 5 days in advance.
- If notified between 3 and 5 days in advance, an additional charge of 20% will apply.
- If you notify within 2 days or less in advance, it will not be possible to make the change and it will not be subject to a refund.
